Paul Goldhagen, MD, FAAOS
Dr. Paul Goldhagen is a general orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in knee and hip replacement surgery and sports related injuries.
Providing excellent orthopedic care is a team effort. From the person who schedules the appointments, to the receptionist, the xray technician, the insurance specialist, the surgery scheduler and the physician, many different areas of expertise are involved in providing the best quality orthopedic care. After assembling his "team" of experts, Dr. Goldhagen founded Bone & Joint Specialists, P.C.in order to provide the best quality orthopedic care.
Dr. Goldhagen, an avid sports enthusiast, graduated from Emory University and then completed post-graduate training at the University of Florida. He graduated from medical school at the University of South Florida in Tampa, and then completed one year of general surgery and five years of orthopedic surgery training at Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens, in New York City. He was Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in 1998, and passed his re-certification examination in 2007. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a member of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, and a member of the Alabama Orthopedic Society.
Dr. Goldhagen does not sub-specialize in any particular area of Orthopedic Surgery, but has a special interest in knee and hip replacement surgery (including the new Anterior Supine Intermuscular hip replacement surgery, and custom knee replacement surgery and sports-related injuries. He is the team physician for Benjamin Russell High School, Alexander City Middle School, Coosa Central High School, Sylacauga High School, and Central Alabama Community College.
Dr. Goldhagen grew up in Tampa, Florida. He met his wife Michele (who is the Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Russell Medical Center) while in medical school in Tampa. After completing his residency, Dr. Goldhagen was in private practice in Tampa, Florida for two years before moving to Alexander City. They have two children, Alexis and Dylan.
Dr. Goldhagen is an avid sports fan. When he is not cheering the Gators to another National Championship, he is busy adding to the extensive collection of sports memorabilia he proudly displays in his office.
